A DECADE OF A GRAIN OF RICE
A work that remembers, reflects, and resonates; crafted to commemorate and endure.
Ten years have passed since A Grain of Rice found its place in London and Hong Kong, commemorating HSBC's 150th anniversary. Time has settled around the sculptures, softening their edges in memory, yet their essence remains.
These two sculptures, one standing tall beneath the open sky, the other nestled within an entrance hall, speak to the quiet power of the singular and the collective.
This simple truth, ancient yet enduring, echoes in the work—engraved with 150 stories of places, people, and moments that have shaped a legacy since 1865.
Step inside the polished core of the dissected grain, and the world shifts. Light bends, sound distorts and space wraps around you. Here, perception is tested; here, possibility lingers. It is an invitation to look closer, to listen, to feel.
It took two years to bring A Grain of Rice into being, but in truth, its making continues. A decade on, we return, not to mark the past, but to witness the present. To reflect on how something as small as a grain, as vast as an idea, can take root and endure.
