A philosophical exploration of tribalism and belonging led us to consider the relevance of crests and ensigns in contemporary society, noting that individuals appear compelled to align behind symbolic emblems. From sporting insignia to religious iconography, luxury logos to the flags of nation states, a sense of trust is fostered among those that pledge fellow allegiance. This declaration bonds individuals to communities with which to stand, unite and defend.
Evocative of ancient realms, imagined futures and universal symbols, each Glyph sculpture in polished bronze is at once alien and familiar. Glyphs invites reflection on humankind’s attempt to fathom the vast universe in which it temporarily exists, noting such fathoming births creeds, disciples and tribes.
